Kashan is located near one of the most beautiful desert in the world, as a stop over for caravan routes. Archaeological discoveries made on the Sialk hill reveal that this region was one of the primary centers of civilization in pre-historic ages. Hence, Kashan even dates back before the Elamite period in Iran. Some scientists believe three wise men started their journey to Bethlehem to witness the nativity of Jesus from Kashan. Among historical sites Fin Garden as a Persian garden with numerous ponds and arches is one of favorite sites. It contains Kashan's Fin Bath, where Amir Kabir, the Qajarid chancellor, was murdered by an assassin sent by Shah Nasereddin in 1852. As a master piece of decorative arts Boroujerdi family house is a master piece. It was built in 1857 by architect Ustad Ali Mariam for the bride of a rich merchant Boroujerdi.
Another magnificent building is the Tabatabaie house, built by architect Ali Maryam Kashani for a wealthy carpet merchant. If you are interested more in ancient history Tepe Sialk ("Sialk hill") as a large ancient archeological site, located a few kilometers away from Kashan will satisfied you. This is the title of the first urban civilization of the Central Iran. Sialk has almost 7000 years of history and consists of two hills (north and south), as well as two cemeteries. Archaeologists have discovered one of the world’s most ancient ziggurat dating 3000 BC, in the construction of which more than one million bricks were used. For tourists this amount of beautiful and mysterious places that concentrated in a small area make Kashan a good place for visit.
